Season 8, Episode 6: "Splitsville"

I love everything about her, and I’m not a guy that says that lightly. I’m a guy who has faked love his entire life. I thought love was something idiots thought they felt. But this woman has a hold on my heart that I could not break if I wanted to. And there have been times that I wanted to. It has been…overwhelming, and humbling, and even painful at times. But I could not stop loving her any more than I could stop breathing. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with her. More than she knows.”-Barney

And we are officially back! I am so glad HIMYM finally decided to give us what we were so desperately craving! Also, I thank tumblr user hiddlesdowneyjr for that quote, because I never could have remembered it on my own. This episode was a good cleanser after all the rotten ones, so I salute the writers and am very happy to start discussing.
To be quite honest, Ted and his architect people were incredibly stupid. However, I can usually count on this writer to be incredibly stupid. The whole segment fell completely flat. It was mega New Jersey, honestly.
Lily and Marshall were not super awesome either. I feel like we are just dealing with the same conflicts when it comes to them. They nees to get it together and start meddling in their friends lives again. I am sick of them being so boring and stupid.
Nick actually made me laugh tonight. His stupidity was funny, and even though he frustrated me, it was not a really awful kind of frustration. It was funny, though I am more than happy to let him go. His whole relationship with Robin was a joke, and we all know the writers put him there simply to put another roadblock in the Barney/Robin relationship.
Now, Robin and Barney are still ridiculous, but this episode brought me back around to remembering why they have been my OTP for so long. The chemistry between them is undeniable. I am so happy we saw some interaction between them. And that speech...wow...it brought tears to my eyes. I know I constantly talk about how I hate Stephen Lloyd's writing, but he nailed it this time. Completely. I am so happy with everything about this segment.

GREATEST MOMENTS:
-Nick and all his stupidity kept making me laugh.
-Splitsville as an ice cream shop.
-Barney's speech. He deserves an award for that one.
-Robin and Patrice's BFF Fun Day
-I am having trouble remembering, and ya'll know I don't take notes. Forgive me.

Alright, that's all from me! Have a great week everyone! See you soon! I will also probably be adding to this post constantly, since I will be rewatching the episode about a million times.

I totally agree with everything you said but I thought that the barney robin moment was cut off too guickly. It sucked because at any other moment I would have loved the patrice fun day thing. When they put it there I was like, NOOOO! PUT BARNEY BACK ON THE SCREEN THIS INSTANT AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT!... But they didn't and I cried.

I wanted them to kiss! I think that after 5 or 6 crappy episodes, we deserved something more than just a romantic speech from Barney. I have been shipping BRo ever since "Zip, Zip, Zip" and I want their relationship to move faster. I feel like these first 7 episodes of season 8 were about nothing. Yes there were funny and heartbreaking parts (Barney's speech), I still feel like nothing important is happening. It seems to me like the writers have nothing else to write about so they are just filling each episode with random nonsense.
Anyways, the rant is now complete. Thanks for reading..
